High Top Chino Mud Silk
$640Few fabrics can compare to this silk which Our Legacy sourced this season. Originating from the motherland for fine silk; China, the painstaking processes involved in creating this finish is astonishing.
On top of the laborious silk manufacturing, to achieve this finish the material is then vegetable dyed using crushed routes & water. Once this process is finished the silk is then soaked in a special mud before being left to dry in the sun. After all of these steps the fabric is then left to sit, resulting in the unique coating which at first glance has an almost leather-like appearance.
Originated in the Guangdong Province of China and dating back to the Ming Dynasty in the fifth century, the craft has been kept alive within the region where subtropic river deltas carry a special iron-rich mud that binds to the silk.
A truly mind-boggling process that we're frankly never heard of for a silk garment, this finish will age with it's wearer over time. This concept is incredibly foreign in concept for a silk fabric but without knowing how things will turn out we're almost certain the process will be amazing.
