As a small retailer that spends time considering everything we do, this can only be a positive thing as it's starting to open up the conversation as well as revealing more information that we normally might not have had access to.

Without getting too existential about this in a product description, the irony of talking about environmental impacts of clothing whilst being a store that sells new clothes is not lost on us.

Nevertheless we are also consumers & so we are always excited to see ways our brands are looking to minimise their lasting impact on the world in the products they make. Enter the Chunky Raglan Sweater you see before your eyes.

Although the draw of cotton is strong the water consumption of the natural fibre is immense. When we talk about an item like this, the amount of water that it would take to create the yarn would be mind-blowing. Instead Our Legacy implements an Italian fabric made from a mix of Hemp (a natural fibre) & Lyocell, which is the cellulose yarn derived from dissolved Eucalyptus pulp. No fabric is going to be completely impact-free but this combination goes a long way to reducing the footprint.

The sweater itself is pretty standard, a nice regular fitting knit to throw on when it's a bit cooler than you expected. BE WARNED the really lovely 'used' texture means it drops quite a bit of fluff when brand new. Keep your black tees away from this in the beginning or else you'll be looking like you live with 300 cats...
